Deacon Board

1Timothy 3:8-13says;

8 Likewise deacons must be reverent, not double-tongued, not given to much wine, not greedy for money, 9 holding the mystery of the faith with a pure conscience. 10 But let these also first be tested; then let them serve as deacons, being found blameless. 11 Likewise, their wives must be reverent, not slanderers, temperate, faithful in all things. 12 Let deacons be the husbands of one wife, ruling their children and their own houses well. 13 For those who have served well as deacons obtain for themselves a good standing and great boldness in the faith which is in Christ Jesus.

       After being on trial for a season, each deacon is ordained and licensed in our Holy Convocation held every year. The deacons of Mt. Calvary do not take their jobs lightly and serve as faithful servants in the church. They assist in the work of the ministry and they work to fulfill each task that the pastor charges them with.

       Equiping themselves with the Word of God taught to them by Pastor Ward, they are quick to learn andable to teach. They are on the battlefield fighting this spiritual fight along side our leaders, pushing them ahead and freeing up there hands.They serve in various ministries in the church such as teaching Sunday School, Nursing Home Ministry, Pastor Aide, and trustee board. They are also in charge of the Angel Food Ministry(click for current nenu), a food ministry implemented by Pastor Ward to help assist low income families purchase boxes of food to help supplement their income.

           Mt. Calvary has four deacons. From left to right we have Deacon Allen Millsaps who is our head deacon. Deacon Johnny Allen and Deacon Michael George. Missing from this picture is Deacon Miguel Foster. Though few in number, they make a big impact. Dependable, faithful, and loyal are the virtues that they display.

      Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.   Ephesians 6:13
